The Incline

“The Incline” One mile long and 2011' gain in altitude (with an average grade of 41 percent)
The average first timer 1 hr.+. In good shape 40 minutes and Runners in great shape below 30 min.

.

Times to do the incline:
Start as early as possible or early afternoon or as soon as the sun gets off the face of the incline. If you haven’t walked the incline before you can expect it to take about two to three hours from the time you leave your home in the Springs until you get back.

Times to not do the incline :
Late morning: It gets very hot from the sun in mid morning and the creosote smell comes out of the railroad ties.

Check the sun down time if you are going in the afternoon; you do not want to be on the trail in the dark.

Even if you can’t see snow on the incline there could be ice on the trail coming down for some time in the spring, be careful.

.

It’s a very busy place ask someone if you are not sure about ice.

¼” Hex head sheet metal screws in the bottom of your shoes works great on ice.

Take a (water bottle) and a camera.
