Training on Pikes Peak for the Ascent

The Trip Up

Big Foot is very smart and few people ever see him

if you look real close you can barely make him out.

Colorado Springs to the east

We went down the trail for about an hour

and then came back up. I know for those of you who train

on the top, it’s pretty wimpy but we were just having fun.J

The 16 Golden Stairs are close to the top but you are not finshed yet.

The Cirque (sûrk) 1,500' deep

Barr Trail Elev. 12,700

Pikes Peak Summit 2

2 miles away and 1,415' higher.

Runners in the Ascent have already traveled 11.32 miles

and climbed 6,400’ in altitude. This is where many runners

slow to 30 minute miles, hard to believe unless you've been there.

The real reason Pikes Peak’s elevation was adjusted from 14,110'

to 14,115' was because Paul and Mark keep carrying rocks up to the top.

There are four switch backs in this picture can you find them?
